The outdoor Running Tracks are marked on the map with an apple green circle icon. The location marked with ÔÇťi-circleÔÇŁ can also be viewed on video in the track's data sheet.

Features of Running Track

There are currently only Tartan running tracks on the map. The most common feature of the Tartan running tracks are that they are generally red coloured, about 1 meter wide rubber-covered tracks.

  • Court┬álength:┬áthere are few hundred meters and more than 1000 meters long courts.┬á
  • Ground: Tartan
  • Opening hours:┬ásport parks, sport courts are usually open in 0-24 hours, but there are some fenced sport places with limited opening hours (eg from sunrise to sunset, etc.) that appear at the entrance.

What is the Tartan?

History of Tartan

  • Starting in the late 1950s, artificial surfaces using a combination of rubber and asphalt began to appear. In the mid-1960s Tartan tracks were developed. Tartan track is a trademarked all-weather synthetic track surfacing made of polyurethane used for track and field competitions.
  • Many Tartan tracks were installed worldwide, including at many of the top universities in the United States.
  • In Europe, the German company Rekortan GmbH first produced a plastic-rubber tread for the Munich Olympics. Their technology was somewhat different from the American Tartan.
  • At that time, the German cover was placed in Hungary, for this reason, in the Hungarian terminology uses the Rekortan name.
